Documentum or Alfresco – Engineering Construction Management Solution for HPI

You are here: Home / Alfresco / Documentum or Alfresco – Engineering Construction Management Solution for HPI

September 22, 2014

TSG has recently updated our solution for Engineering, and specifically construction management solution for either Alfresco or Documentum. In addition to the normal capabilities of HPI, the engineering construction management solution adds a unique approach for leveraging project templates to begin activities on the project. This post will present an overview of the solution and some of its unique capabilities.

Beginning the Project – Use of Project Templates

Typical ECM use of templates is defined on a document by document basis. The scenario for our client really focused on beginning the project with templates of all of the documents that would be required for a project all in the “DRAFT” stage.

As the video demonstrates:

  • The project enforces the use of templates for all documents in the project.
  • Documents are labeled as DRAFT to begin
  • As documents are updated, status can be gradually changed including Review, Released and appropriately tagged in representative folders.
  • All documents are displayed with watermarks of appropriate status.

The video also demonstrates the ability of HPI to bring in related client project folders for reference while working within the project.

Working on the Project – Use of Status and Other capabilities

On major selling point of the project was the ability of the project manager to quickly identify which documents were in DRAFT, Review or Released when compared against an overall due date.

By leveraging HPI’s powerful search capabilities, the project manager could easily get a quick glimpse of the overall status of the project based on the documentation compared to due dates.
