Documentum Migration – OpenMigrate for both large migrations and ongoing capture
I was recently at a client struggling with an ECM decision (Alfresco or Documentum) based on connectivity to a scanning data capture solution. Normally the ECM requirement will drive the scanning solution. For this client, capture of data from the image was the driving business justification. After all data was extracted, the client wanted to save […]
Documentum Upgrade – Inplace or Migration
For many Documentum customers, deciding how to upgrade a Documentum system often boils down to whether or not to upgrade in-place with a clone or just leave the environment alone and upgrade it in-place on the existing hardware. This project was a good test […]

Altogether […]

Data Visualization Dashboard for ECM Migrations
Large Enterprise Content Management migrations tend to be mission critical projects for many companies. The lead up to a migration can be fairly easy to convey status to all interested parties. However, once the migration begins, many clients need the ability to inform interested stakeholders of the overall progress on-demand. Until now, this would require […]

Documentum to Alfresco Migration – Alfresco as a front-end, Documentum for Archival?
We had an interesting call with a client yesterday that is looking for content management capabilities for BIMserver. BIMserver (www.bimserver.org) is an opensource Building Information Modelserver. In this case, the BIMserver already integrates with Alfresco . Unfortunately an internal company mandate specifies that Documentum be used for long-term record retention. Unfortunately we are seeing this scenario […]

Migrating From FileNet to Documentum: Could OpenMigrate Possibly Do That?
OpenMigrate can be used to migrate large volumes of images and other files from FileNet IDM into Documentum, Alfresco or any other repository. Rather than writing a full FileNet connector, TSG leveraged its JDBC and other existing framework components to quickly extend OpenMigrate to extract from FileNet.

Improving Large File Uploads into an ECM by 95%
With the digital transformation of traditional ECM processes, file sizes continue to increase due to more video content and other rich media. Documentum 5 vs. 6, Databases and Dates: Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?
When EMC revealed Documentum 6 a few years ago, they made a subtle—yet important—change to the way Documentum would store dates and times in the database. While most clients would never even notice the change, some of us would. In particular, when it becomes necessary to access the underlying database tables, like OpenMigrate can when […]
