On May 29th, 2019, TSG and Alfresco hosted a webinar detailing an innovative solution for migrating off of FileNet onto more modern ECM solutions. Taking the approach of a rolling migration combined with offline access methods enabled users to stop running FileNet very quickly compared to a traditional “big bang” migration approach.
When IBM dropped their support for FileNet Content Manager 5.2 on April 30th, many customers were left stranded with an old, unsupported version that may have existed for decades storing millions, and perhaps billions, of their documents and still paying maintenance. FileNet Image Services customers face a similar problem as clients are stuck with an outdated system that hasn’t seen innovation for more than a decade now.
The recorded webinar highlights:
- On overview of OpenMigrate and different migration options
- Specific details to consider when migrating from FileNet to Alfresco including migration to Amazon Web Services
- A unique rolling migration approach that allows FileNet to be retired even before all of the content has been migrated.
