TSG is seeing clients with more and more video management needs, particularly around video surveillance. Clients have to manage a variety of different vendor solutions and formats. Sharing and viewing long and large video files can be a redundant and an inefficient process. TSG worked with the Michigan State Capstone experience to build a prototype that would allow customers to efficiently capture and share video from multiple cameras.
Managing Security Videos – What are the issues?
Clients working with security have a number of different issues to overcome including:
- Having to ingest large files representing 30 minutes to 24 hours of video
- Having to understand which camera is related to which video file
- Having to clip just the relevant video from a large file without modifying the original video for evidence reasons
- Wanting to combine video from different feeds to make the viewing of the video easier for subsequent reviewers.
With the increase in amount of video companies are seeing, security footage represents a unique challenge. Users need to quickly and easily review the footage and understand the most critical parts of an incident.
Managing Security Videos – An efficient solution
To allow clients to more efficiently manage feeds from multiple cameras, the solution
- Allows for selection of camera feeds based by a physical location of the camera displayed on a Google Map. The upload only uploads the relevant time period to the digital case folder.
- The solution allows for annotation of each video to highlight the key points of interest in each video.
- The solution builds a single collage of all of the videos with the selected relevant times from each video to create a video summary of the incident.
See an overview of CSE 498 Capstone project that enables the ability for users to upload multiple video files from a security system based on a specific time range, annotate the individual videos and have the videos automatically trimmed and merged into a single compiled video record of the incident.
TSG would like to send a big “thank you” to the “Team Technology Services Group” for all of their hard work and the entire Michigan State Capstone Project team for allowing TSG to participate.
