Based on feedback from multiple clients, TSG will be conducting a 2018 blog series on how to make Documentum better based on our 20+ years of client experience. Over the course of the next several weeks, we will be sharing best practices with both new posts as well as some of refreshed versions of our most popular posts. This post details the upcoming series of articles.
Documentum – Making it Better – Why Now?
For long time readers of this blog, many of our Documentum posts focus on migrating to a new alternative (typically Alfresco, Hadoop and AWS). For existing Documentum customers, we have seen a desire to move away from an old, legacy software product that most feel has been a cash cow for EMC and now OpenText for the last 10 years. Many risk-adverse Documentum customers are looking for ways to improve their existing Documentum infrastructure that reduce their risk of an unknown Documentum future. As reported by Doculabs, most Documentum customers are still taking a “wait and see” approach with OpenText being the new caretaker of Documentum.
TSG is sees our Documentum customers looking for innovative approaches that allow for them to:
- Improve the user experience of Documentum
- Reduce the reliance on Documentum products and services given an unknown future
- Reduce the costs of supporting Documentum
- Position themselves to be able to move from Documentum more easily in the future
