Import Email Messages from GMail into your ECM Repository with HPI

You are here: Home / Alfresco / Import Email Messages from GMail into your ECM Repository with HPI

February 23, 2017

We’ve seen many clients with requirements around importing emails into an ECM repository.  For a long time, we’ve allowed ingesting outlook MSG emails in our HPI interface.  To see how this works, check out this demo in the TSG Learning Zone.  However, we’ve recently worked with some clients that have migrated to Gmail and Google Apps for Business that would like similar functionality.

While Gmail does not allow drag and drop from its interface, Google does provide a robust JavaScript API that we can access from HPI. Check out the following demo to see how we can ingest email messages as well as attachments from Gmail into an ECM repository.

One nice thing about this JavaScript approach is that this functionality will work across all of the ECM repositories that HPI supports – Alfresco, Documentum, and Hadoop.
