Many of our clients use SharePoint to collaborate on documents. These users may also use a Documentum repository to route, approve, and store controlled documents. When thinking about this scenario, we considered how the Active Wizard could be used route SharePoint documents using the Active Form module of the wizard. Thanks in part to the existing Webtop Connector, we were able to come up with a working prototype in no time!
First, we added a menu item when selecting a document to allow a user to route a SharePoint document using the wizard:
After choosing that menu item, the document is placed in Documentum and automatically attached to the form created. To handle workflow tasks, we integrated OpenContent to provide a view into the user’s Documentum inbox from SharePoint:
Clicking the inbox item will automatically take the user into the wizard’s review tab to process the document approval.
There’s a new demo posted to the Active Wizard website that shows how the Active Wizard could be used to route documents from SharePoint – check it out!
